Meeting safely for the first time
Simple steps to help you feel safe and at ease at a first meeting. By the Qalbii team.
Choose a busy public place
Pick somewhere public and busy, like a café or a hotel lobby, in daylight if you can. Avoid meeting at someone's home or somewhere quiet. In the app's meeting planner you both confirm the place.
Tell someone you trust
Tell a family member or a friend where you are going, who you are meeting and when you expect to finish. The app's Tell someone I trust option lets you share your plan using your phone's share sheet.
Travel there and back yourself
Arrange your own travel and keep your phone charged. Do not accept a lift from someone you have only just met.
Keep your details private at first
You do not need to share your phone number or address before you meet. On Qalbii, contact details stay hidden until you both choose to share them. Take your time.
Bring someone, if you prefer
Many people feel more at ease with a chaperone or a family member nearby. It is your choice, and a sincere match will understand.
Trust your feelings
If something feels wrong, you can leave. You do not owe anyone an explanation. If you feel unsafe, tap Get help now in the app, or call 999.
After you meet
The app asks how it went. Tell us honestly. If something was not right, you can report it and we will look into it.
